TRAINING

In addition to task force position specific training requirements the following General Training Requirements have been established.

 

General Training Requirements:

Each member will:

  1. Complete Critical Incident Stress awareness training.
  2. Complete IS-100 and IS-200 (or their equivalent), IS-700 and IS-800B online courses.
  3. Complete USAR Response System Orientation course as part of the Task Force orientation
  4. Complete initial training at the First Responder Operations Level for Hazardous Materials (OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.120).
    1. Complete annual refresher training as required for First Responder Operations Level for Hazardous Materials (OSHA 29 CFR,1910.120).
  5. Be currently certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Task force members currently licensed or certified as EMT (all levels) and licensed Board Certified Emergency Physicians inherently meet this requirement).
  6. Complete respiratory protection training per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 (k).
    1. Complete refresher training as required for respiratory protection training per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 (k).
  7. Complete the DHS/FEMA National US&R Response System WMD Enhanced Operations course
  8. Complete NFPA 1670 Awareness Level training for:
    1. Confined space rescue
    2. Water rescue
    3. Structural collapse
  9. Complete Blood-borne Pathogen training

 

General Training Requirement programs will be provided by MI-TF1. Both “in-house” and “on-line” courses are designed to meet the training needs of task force members. When members have completed the General Training Requirement courses they will provide a copy of certification to their task force leader.
